Service venues can cover car servicing, customer drop-off areas, hairdressers, barbers, salons, dentists, tyre fitters, repair workshops… the list is endless where services are offered. The common element is that customers and staff need to be able to engage and hear each other, yet provide a fluid background that enhances the customer’s perception of quality.
The customer needs to feel welcome to a warm environment where there may naturally be a long dwell time, perhaps able to browse other products; if a car is in for servicing, there might be a coffee lounge or opportunity to browse new products. At a hairdresser, barbers, or salon, there’s a natural inclination for conversation to ebb and flow.
The tracks in the sample playlist have been chosen to specifically allow conversations to take place over them, yet they stand up to listening in their own right when needed. It can be hard to strike a balance and it depends on the service venue, so I would always recommend an on-site visit to understand the venue and the customers.
