Hospitality venues.

Hospitality venues are perhaps the most natural settings for playlists. Whether it’s a restaurant, bar, café, all day food venue, gastropub, hotel lobby, wedding venue stock offering or conference venue, there’s bound to be an opportunity to increase your customer experience.

The music in these environments is a chance to create an ambiance befitting your brand. There may be a requirement for the playlists to peak every 90 minutes to cater for a changing audience, or you might need something with a longer build up. Sometimes the playlists need to convey an atmosphere as soon as a customer walks through the door and require something more continuously upbeat but ultimately not too wearing on customers already in your venue, or indeed the staff working in those venues.

Hospitality venues tend to have long opening hours, meaning the playlist may need to change over the course of the day. Perhaps early mornings can be covered with something light, such as classical music, the playlist can build to pop and upbeat classics over the lunch to early afternoon period, and something a bit more funky for the evenings?

As part of the process, I’d advise asking staff working in your venue to trial sections of the playlists as they’re being created. They have to work whilst listening to them all day, every day, and if they enjoy the music then so will the customers.

The possibilities are endless, which is why I’d prefer to complete this type of playlist after a visit to the premises, both during trading hours and when the venue is empty to audition tracks so that I can understand your customer audience and venue. This may not be possible at the moment (March 2021) but I hope things will get better soon for all hospitality venues.
